Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah Day Trip
Marrakech → Tizi n’Tichka → Ait Ben Haddou (→ Ouarzazate optional) → Marrakech
Overview
Ait Ben Haddou is a fortified village of earthen houses climbing a hill above the Ounila river. It is one of the finest examples of southern Moroccan architecture, a UNESCO World Heritage site and a familiar film location. This day trip crosses the High Atlas by the Tizi n’Tichka pass to reach it.
Please be aware that this is a long day: the drive takes around three and a half to four hours each way on a winding mountain road. In exchange, you see some of Morocco’s most dramatic scenery, Berber villages and the transition from the green north side of the Atlas to the arid south. If you have more time, we recommend combining Ait Ben Haddou with a desert tour, such as the 2 Days Marrakech to Zagora.
