Overview
Starting from Ouarzazate saves you the High Atlas crossing and makes Merzouga reachable at a comfortable pace. The first day visits the Skoura palm grove, the Valley of Roses and the Dades Gorges before a night near the Todra Gorge.
On the second day you walk in the Todra Gorge and continue to Merzouga for a camel ride into Erg Chebbi and a night at camp. The return follows a different road along the southern flank of the Jebel Saghro, through Rissani, Alnif and N’Kob, back to Ouarzazate. It is a complete Sahara loop without retracing your steps.

Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1
Ouarzazate – Skoura – Dades Gorges – Todra
Drive through the Skoura palm grove and the Valley of Roses to the Dades Gorges, then continue to Tinghir for the night near the Todra Gorge.

Day 2
Todra Gorge – Merzouga desert camp
Morning walk in the gorge, then drive via Erfoud and Rissani to Merzouga. Camel ride into the dunes and a night at camp.

Day 3
Merzouga – Rissani – Alnif – N’Kob – Ouarzazate
Sunrise, then drive west along the Jebel Saghro through Alnif and N’Kob back to Ouarzazate (about 6 hours with stops).
