Overview
Ouarzazate is the gateway to the south, and Zagora is only about three hours away. This relaxed two-day trip follows the road over the Jebel Bani foothills and the Tizi n’Tinifift pass down into the Draa Valley, one of Morocco’s longest palm groves, lined with earthen villages and kasbahs.
You visit the old kasbah of Tamnougalt near Agdz, then continue to Zagora and ride camels to a camp in the dunes for sunset and a night under the stars. The return to Ouarzazate leaves time for a visit to Ait Ben Haddou if you have not seen it yet. It is a gentle introduction to the desert with short driving days, ideal for families.

Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1
Ouarzazate – Agdz – Draa Valley – Zagora desert camp
Pick-up in Ouarzazate. Drive over the Tizi n’Tinifift pass to Agdz and visit the kasbah of Tamnougalt. Follow the Draa Valley to Zagora, then ride camels to camp for sunset, dinner and the night.

Day 2
Zagora – Ouarzazate (– Ait Ben Haddou)
Sunrise in the dunes and breakfast. Return through the Draa Valley to Ouarzazate, with an optional afternoon visit to Ait Ben Haddou.
