4 Days Tangier to Fes via Chefchaouen and the Sahara
Tangier → Chefchaouen → Volubilis → Meknes → Fes → Ifrane → Merzouga → Fes
Overview
This four-day itinerary takes you from Tangier, at the meeting point of the Atlantic and the Mediterranean, to the sand dunes of the Sahara. The first day brings you to Chefchaouen in the Rif mountains. The second visits the Roman ruins of Volubilis and imperial Meknes on the way to Fes.
On day three you cross the Middle Atlas and the Ziz Valley to Merzouga, where camels take you into Erg Chebbi for a night at camp. After sunrise you return to Fes, where the tour ends. It is a good choice for travellers arriving from Spain who want to see the desert without going all the way to Marrakech.
