Essaouira Coastal Day Trip
Marrakech → argan countryside → Essaouira → Marrakech
Overview
Essaouira is a laid-back walled port town on the Atlantic, about two and a half to three hours west of Marrakech. Its 18th-century medina, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is easy to walk around, with whitewashed houses, blue shutters, art galleries and woodworkers’ shops.
On the way you stop at an argan cooperative to see how the oil is produced. You may also see goats climbing argan trees along the road. Be aware that some of these photo stops are set up for tourists and ask for tips. In Essaouira you have free time to walk the Skala ramparts, watch the fishing boats in the port and enjoy grilled fish for lunch before returning to Marrakech.
