Overview

Our grand tour is for travellers who want to see Morocco properly, with time to settle into each place. It opens on the Atlantic coast in Essaouira, a relaxed walled port town, then follows the coast north to Rabat before climbing into the Rif mountains to Chefchaouen.

From the blue town you visit the Roman site of Volubilis and imperial Meknes on the way to Fes, where you stay two nights. You then cross the Middle Atlas to Erg Chebbi for two nights near the dunes, with a full free day in the desert, before returning through the Todra and Dades gorges and Ait Ben Haddou. With riads, kasbahs and luxury camps, this itinerary works particularly well as a premium journey.
