Marrakech Camel Ride in the Palm Grove
Overview
The Palmeraie, a large palm grove on the northern edge of Marrakech, is the easiest place to ride a camel without travelling to the desert. After being dressed in a traditional chèche (turban) if you wish, you set off with a cameleer on a calm ride of about one to one and a half hours between the palms.
The ride includes a stop for mint tea in a local house. Many travellers choose the late afternoon for softer light and cooler temperatures. It is a relaxing experience suited to all ages, and a good introduction for children before a desert trip.
