Overview
Errachidia, with its airport and position on the main road from Fes, is only about two hours from the Erg Chebbi dunes. That makes a relaxed desert overnight possible without long driving days.
You drive south along the Ziz oasis, with views over one of the largest palm groves in Morocco, stop in Erfoud, known for its fossils, and in the old market town of Rissani before reaching Merzouga. A camel ride takes you into the dunes for sunset, dinner and a night at camp. After sunrise you return to Errachidia in time for an afternoon flight or onward travel.

Day 1
Errachidia – Ziz Valley – Erfoud – Rissani – Merzouga desert camp
Pick-up in Errachidia (city or airport). Drive along the Ziz oasis, visit a fossil workshop in Erfoud and Rissani’s market, then continue to Merzouga for a camel ride into the dunes, sunset and a night at camp.

Merzouga – Errachidia
Sunrise over the dunes, breakfast and return to Errachidia, arriving around midday.
